The Association of Resident Administrators in Neurological Surgery (ARANS) is the national professional organization of administrators involved in graduate medical education in neurosurgical programs. Sponsored by the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS), ARANS was established as an organization to provide support, mentorship, and guidance to residency training administrators at all career levels. The organization is committed to advancing the education, knowledge and professional development of administrators in the management of neurosurgery residency and fellowship programs through annual meetings, networking and online communication, by providing a platform to exchange, develop and implement ideas and best practices.

2023 ARANS MEETING
May 18-20, 2023
Dallas, TX
REGISTRATION AND HOUSING NOW OPEN!
HISTORY
In 2008 at an ACGME Educational Conference a small group of neurosurgery coordinators, led by Kathy Guzman (University of Southern California) and Lois Hengenius (University Hospitals, Cleveland) met and discussed the desire to have a dedicated neurosurgery coordinators meeting. A proposal was generated and sent to all the neurosurgery residency programs in the country to gauge the level of interest and support for such a meeting. An overwhelmingly positive response from program coordinators, program directors and department chairs resulted in this proposal being submitted to the SNS Council. The SNS Council approved the establishment of a coordinator meeting held just prior to the SNS Meeting. The first meeting was held in Salt Lake City in May 2009 with 65 coordinators in attendance.
The Annual Meeting has continued successfully each year. At the 10th anniversary meeting in 2018 discussions were held about the need to formalize the group to ensure continued success. A series of discussions, votes and collaboration resulted in the election of officers and the establishment of the Association of Residency Administrators in Neurological Surgery (ARANS) in May 2019.
